 FINDING THE LOCAL

Finding antique buttons is such exting work, especially when I run into unused old buttons on cards. I feel so happy to find use for them, otherwise they would be forgotten somewhere.

These buttons were marked MADE IN USA and are from the 1950~60's.
One shows a button manufactured in N.J. ( Does anybody know this company?)
The price of the buttons was only 45 cents. Now they will become a part of Relation Bracelets and shine under the sun once again!

It is an homage to "Old Sailor's Knot". "Old Sailor's Knot" was long crafted by sailors in off hours while at sea, especially in elaborate or ornamental knotting forms, to decorate anything from knife handles to bottles to parts of ships.

There are 2 parts in the collection and shown below is the colorful side of it.
The wool version of "Relation-Bracelets" with one of a kind antique buttons.
Duffel coat toggles, Knot buttons or Work jacket buttons add some warm feel to it.
Each bracelet was carefully hand knitted and finished in NYC with wishes.
 I put a number on each tag since every single bracelet is unique.

I am working on the relation bracelets 2012 FW "THE WARM COLLECTION" : Each bracelet is hand made out of wool yarn which warm your wrist and give you heart-warming feeling.
ただ今、２０１２秋冬リレーション・ブレス仕上げの真最中。その舞台裏を一寸だけ公開しますね。

”Snip Snip and Pile Up♪”

the park n.y.c.リレーションブレスにはアンティーク・ボタンが使われています。

以前はどこかで洋服の一部としてその役割を果たしていたボタン達。

縁あって 出会えたそれらのボタン達に、今またブレスの止め具として活躍してもらいます。

物と物をつないできたボタンが今度は心と心をも、つないでくれるように。

ボタン一つ一つに願いをこめて、一針一針丁寧に縫いつけていきます。

糸始末をしてできた、色とりどりの毛糸の山。

普通は捨ててしまうものかもしれません。

しかし、捨てるには惜しいほど可愛い色合い。

そこで。。。

こんなものを作ってみました。

片手に収まる大きさのハート型のピンクッション。

中の毛糸が見えるように生成りのコットン・オーガンジーでつくりました。

実はこの生地もカーテンの端切れをとっておいたもの。

赤い糸でトリミングをして。

仕上げにアンティークの貝ボタンをひとつ。

コルクボードにかけておけるようにつけたストラップはブレスとお揃い。

HEART-WARMING なBY-PRODUCT。

 これでブレスのボタン付がまた楽しくなりそう。

完成ももうすぐ...です。

今回日本に行った際にいくつかのBYストアを訪問して、そのうち下記２店舗では特別にお願いして売場の写真を撮らせていただきました。（ほか有楽町ルミネ店、渋谷公園通り店、吉祥寺店にもうかがいました）ちょうどTVでもBYのコマーシャルが頻繁に流れていて、ハチ公広場のTVスクリーンで見たときには感激！（このCM、NYCのSOHOで撮影されたものです）
